Greece, Croatia, Italy…finding your perfect Mediterranean paradise never ends!
Even small islands like Cyprus are surging, but there are still hidden gems waiting to take center stage.
Turkiye has become one of the most visited countries on Earth, but many travelers are still unaware of gorgeous resort towns dotting the stunning coastline.
Sure, Istanbul is absolutely incredible to visit, and the same can be said along Turkiye’s trendy Black Sea shorelines.
When it comes to the Med, however, this is where Turkiye has some question marks beyond popular Antalya and up-and-coming Bodrum.
Antalya is a great starting point, but venturing beyond unveils Turkiye’s true Mediterranean charm.
From unknown islands oozing Greek vibes to vibrant coastal cities, now it’s time for the cheap hidden paradise of Marmaris to shine.
The Affordable Vacation You Didn’t Know You Needed
Escape to Istanbul for unforgettable urban jungle explorations, and escape to Marmaris to unwind at top-notch resorts along calm turquoise waters in an isolated beach town oozing quintessential Mediterranean vibes.
You know, where delicious eats rival Crete, underrated resorts mirror Cyprus, and the night transforms into a party scene much like Mykonos.
Marmaris is set on the ‘Turquoise Coast’ after all, and definitely lives up to the name. Better yet, it won’t break the bank.
The Irish Sun released a report detailing specifics of what’s so cheap about Marmaris and hyping up this resort town as an unsuspecting family destination.
Here is a sample size of what you can expect to pay:
- Vacation essentials (including meals, drinks and beach necessities): $151
- Weekly beach gear rentals (for family of 4): $197
- Ice cream (a Turkish staple!): $1.38
Costs vary for every vacation, but let’s switch gears to what you really want to know – the cost of treating yourself in this lesser known hideaway.
Accommodation Options For Every Budget
You can’t visit a resort town without visiting a resort, right?!
You can, but there are many great stays in Marmaris, ranging from Airbnbs to boutique hotels and, yes, highly desirable beachfront resorts overlooking the vast Aegean.
TripAdvisor has these 3 Marmaris resorts rated the highest:
- Prime Beach Hotel (lowest rate – $234)
- Marmaris Bay Resort (lowest rate – $178)
- Fortezza Beach Resort (lowest rate – $200)
Full disclosure – I’ve never been to Marmaris, but if I were to vacation here, Marmaris Bay Resort would be my top pick.
Tucked away on the edge of the scenic bay, this 5-star all-inclusive resort has the overall best value.
Plus, there are no screaming kids being an adults-only property for blissful days in a private slice of paradise.
Beyond the upscale resorts are more accommodations to fit every budget.
Those who don’t mind being a short walk from the beach can stay on a palm tree-lined street 3 minutes from Marmaris Beach by Amore Hotel as low as $80.
Those wanting more space can opt for Airbnbs in the city, which are found in the $60s per night on the low end.
Beyond Luxe Resorts: Discover The Unexpected Delights Of Marmaris
As one might imagine, Marmaris is a popular cruise port, so that’s no surprise.
But what all travelers will find here are some unexpected delights beyond the beachfront resorts and impeccable waters.
The buzzing nightlife transforms this city from a relaxing escape to full-on fist-pumping madness.
It’s certainly not for everyone, but if Ibiza is your jam, so is Marmaris.
Being a family-friendly destination, the kiddos can skip out on this aspect of Marmaris, but there’s something for everyone.
With such an intriguing historical timeline like Turkiye, a country that can’t even decide how to spell its name, there really is something for everyone.
A must-see is Marmaris Castle, where can absorb the well-preserved fortress all while taking in stunning views of the harbor.
Those who love to explore by foot will love the Old Town district, a mini Istanbul teeming with charming shops, bustling markets, and traditional restaurants and cafes.
Plus, is there any better way to start your day than with a cup of Turkish coffee?
Do yourself a favor and leave the one and only Starbucks for the cruisers.
Rather get your afternoon pick-me-up at the top-rated Castle Cafe and Bar for delicious coffee and savory cuisine.
It’s the perfect way to cap your day with sweeping views on the breezy patio.
